Week 2 – Building the Chassis for the Vehicles

We finally have the chassis’ for both Engineer Level 2 entries!

We all followed a similar process to make sure that they would be ready for the competition. We had to measure the length of both vehicles, so we put the wooden wheels flat against the table and choose a distance that would be suited to they types of vehicles we were making. We carefully used a handsaw to cut pieces of wood that we would need for the frame. We also cut the dowel wood for the axles and drive wheels.

To make the vehicle secure, we had to use a hot glue gun. We asked for Mr Dougill’s help for this bit so that it was safe!

Week 2 – Building the Chassis and Body of the Vehicle

We have made the chassis and the body of both VW camper vans!

To measure the length of both of the vehicles, we put the wooden wheels flat against the table and chose a suitable distance for the size of the vehicles. We then used a handsaw to prepare the wood for the frame and the chassis. We also used a handsaw to saw the dowel wood for the axles and drive wheels.

We then had help from Mr Dougill to help us glue all of the pieces together. We used a hot glue gun for this to make the vehicles secure.
