Week 1 – Researching the Vehicles

We have thought long and hard about the designs for the vehicles which we are entering into the Regional Finals. For the Apprentice Level 1 entry, we are making a bus, which will need to keep an object secure when pushed down a ramp. For the Engineer Level 1 entries, we are focusing on the theme of VW camper vans. We are hoping to design a VW camper van with a surfing theme, as well as the Mystery Machine from the well-known cartoon series: Scooby Doo. Both of these will have an electric motor and will need to climb a ramp in a straight line. We are very excited to see the vehicles come together.IMG_0627

Primary Engineer Regional Finals 2016

We are taking part in the Primary Engineer Regional Finals, which will be taking place at Norbridge Academy on 24th May 2016. We have entered into both the Apprentice Level 1 and Engineer Level 1 competitions. We are very excited and are working really hard on our entries for this year’s event. Watch this space…

Ending the year on a high!

So Norbridge Acadmey are currently the national champions in the Key Stage 2 phases of the primary engineer. The winning vehicle was the brilliant “Only Tools and Forces” vehicle which was inspired by the 80/90’s progamme Only Fools And Horses. We had a 3 wheel van, Del Boy, Rodney and even Del Boys suitcase. The children demonstrated their understanding and ability impecably. We are so proud of their achievement and we love the new trophies in the cabinet!

Norbridge Enjoy Success At Primary Engineer Regional Event

Our children were successful on the day as Key Stage 1 were runners up in their category and Key Stage 2 won their category.  We had a great day and we are looking forward to entering next year.  A wonderful event for all of the children involved and credit must go to Primary Engineer and the sponsors of the event, for providing this opportunity.

We made new friends and we are going to work together on our projects for next year!

Primary Engineer Challenge Begins

We have been welcomed by the Principal of Aston Engineering Academy to the challenge this year.  Our Key Stage 2 teams have had their vehicles tested and the blogging bus scored maximum points on the ramp and straight line test and the men in black car scored maximum on the ramp but lost some marks on the straight line test.

We are very pleased with our performance and the children have been a good example to others here.  Exemplar behaviour is a pleasure to see.

Our Key Stage one entry has not been tested yet but the 3 chefs are raring to go and have talked very clearly about their truck.  it has been worth the effort to watch Alfie punch the air as the bus scored maximum points.

Great to see staff here on a Saturday giving their time to our students.  I am so proud to see them here working hard for our school.  Miss Millwater is taking many photographs and I will update the blog later with those.  please share our tweets to spread the word.
